Message This problem is a little different that previously posted and so I am making a new post about it. Basically when I start the engine my pressure is 70psi but then it drops to about 63-65psi when the car warms up.

I am thinking there can only be five causes:
1. Fuel pump
2. Fuel filter
3. Pressure regulator
4. Dampener
5. Clogged return line to tank.

I got off the phone with Coz, having just ordered a new dampener and regulator. He says basically it must be the pump and that it is stuck in "stage 3". I have a brand new pump but I do not want to install it without some feedback first. The only thing bypassed on this car is the TB coolant lines. EGR, AIV, PRVR are operational. I will bypass the PRVR and see if that changes anything.

Recently I failed smog inspection (NOx 2.40 where in the past 3 years it has always been .89 roughly)

Recent upgrades: I pulled the plenum and upgraded with a 300 degree rail and 555cc injectors. I had the Ash spec chip reflashed, bypassed the TB cooland lines. Everything is new! New EGR gaskets, new plenum gasket, heater core hoses, turbo coolant lines, all hoses going to AIV, EGR, PRVR, regulator, dampener solenoids, OEM fuel lines (from filter to dampener, from the tank to the regulator ect that $90 kit) as well as all the other smaller lines. My point is I did this "right" and changed it all. I also pulled off the iac valve and cleaned it- tested everything with a multimeter and put it all back together.

My idle IS right where it should be
No codes are being detected, 55
No Fuel leaks, and engine running smooth

So I am really clueless on how I can easily determine if I am stuck in "stage 3" without pulling the old pump (which might be good!)

One mistake I did make, when I hooked the regulator up, I had the fuel rail and the tank connection reversed. It was this way when I brought the car in for smog test and I must have put about 100 miles on it. I am wondering if this could have damaged the regulator and caused this high pressure.
